Frequently Asked Question

The Electronic Travel Authorization is valid for five years from the date of issuance, allowing stays in Canada for up to six months per visit. However, it expires earlier if the traveler's passport expires, the authorization is canceled, or a new one is issued.
With an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization), you are permitted to visit Canada for tourism, business, or to transit through to another destination.
An eTA does not assure entry to Canada. Upon arrival, a border services officer will request your passport and additional documentation. You must demonstrate to the officer your eligibility for entry into Canada. Various factors, such as involvement in criminal activities, human rights violations, or organized crime, may render you inadmissible.
Your eTA is connected to the passport utilized during the application process. It's essential to have this passport with you during flight check-in for Canada. There's no necessity to print any additional documents. The airline personnel will scan your passport to verify the validity of your eTA.
With a valid eTA, you can make multiple visits to Canada.
The majority of eTA applications are approved within minutes of submission, but certain requests may necessitate additional processing time.
